CHIE MIHARA Facts
Born in Porto Alegre, Brasil in 1968, of Japanese parents. Second of three sisters.
Was living in Japan from age 18 to 22 in Fukuoka.
Studied fashion design in Kyushyu Design Gakkuin.
After graduation, worked for Junko Koshino for two years as a designer assistant.
At the age of 22, moved to New York for the next 5 years.
Studied accessories design at F.I.T., mainly shoes and handbags.
Did internship at Eneslow, an orthopedic shoe store where she learned alot about the foot and problems associated.
For another 2 years, worked at Sam & Libby as a shoe and bag designer.
At t he age of 27, made a move to Europe.
Worked for Charles Jourdan for a couple of years.
Was married at the age of 29 and dedicated the next 4 years to creating a family of 3 children.
In 2001, Chie Mahira launched her own line.
The concept of her work is design, comfort and quality. She doesn't follow a trend but is into fashion.
